Even just using the word vagina engages more people than most would expect.


Notably, finding an open and honest self-care culture and forum for women is not always easy.


Many women (myself included) have felt shame, awkwardness, and even trauma around asking for help and understanding what our bodies (specifically our lady parts) need.


In today’s society and political climate, it is not surprising that the stigma around women's health care has only just barely begun to fade away.


The complexity of being a woman, a sexual being, and trusting that our bodies (and our vaginas) hold infinite wisdom in a world wrought with disconnection and repression is one of the biggest enigmas of our time.


For example, studies show that the majority of women (65%) have trouble even saying the word vagina or vulva.


When it comes to vaginal and sexual health, women have been operating with misinformation, half-truths and an overall lack of science for way too long.


I want to invite you to join me in changing the narrative on your health care: to feel free to talk about your body (and your vagina), to ask the taboo questions that you deserve to know about in how to tend to and care for your health including your vaginal microbiome, and to embrace the pleasure and wisdom within your pelvis.


Because your body is your greatest partner in pleasure and there is an entire world within your vagina that is worth getting to know.


Your vaginal ecology is absolutely interconnected with your hormonal health, your metabolic health, your gut microbiome, the food you eat and your ability to feel your best –– physically and emotionally.

Meet Dr Jodie Horton:

Dr. Jodie Horton is a board-certified OB/GYN who has been practicing medicine for 17 years. 

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Medical College of Virginia. She completed her residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She has worked in many collaborative models throughout her career, including private practice, midwifery practices, and academic settings.

She has been working as an OB hospitalist and assistant clinical professor at Georgetown University Medical Center for the past six years, where she teaches medical students and residents.

Dr. Jodie is most interested in combining holistic and western medicine to provide the best option for her patients and believes that self-care is not indulgent but necessary

She wears many hats and has found many different interests within the field of medicine. 

She is also the Chief Wellness advisor at Love Wellness where she contributes to evaluating, critiquing, and communicating important medical and scientific information related to the company's products. This includes assisting in product development and product information, sharing informative articles related to women's health and supporting women in their bustling platform The Love Club where women can go to seek support, advice and connection.

She also serves as a board member at Postpartum Wellness Foundation to promote maternal mental wellness.

Her goals are to continue to empower women to learn more about their bodies and to promote physical and mental wellness.
